One Week!

Sorry that the updates have been coming slow.  Laura has been busy serving at Pre-Field Orientation in Houghton, NY.  She taught 10 pre-school age children as their parents were in classes preparing them to live and teacher overseas.  Dan continues to promote short-term teams and finalize details for the several that will travel this summer.  Today, we are one week out from the wedding, the circus is beginning.  Some members of Laura's family came to her parents' house today to begin the process of making centerpieces, bouquets, and other floral arrangements.

On a sad note...  Friday morning (July 10) Laura's grandmother Crawford passed away after a long battle with a cancerous tumor.  Her passing was somewhat expected, though we were hoping she would hold on a little longer.  The funeral will be on Tuesday. Dan will be in Indiana by that time.

On a happier note...  Monday (July 6) Laura's sister gave birth to a baby boy - 4 weeks early!  Charles Andrew Gunn (5 lbs 6 oz) is doing well and I am sure thrilled that he surprised us all.

We are not in KS any more!

I was told that there are more sunny days in Colorado Springs than in San Diego.  I wasn't sure about that as we drove straight into a thunderstorm Wednesday night just as we were entering El Paso county, Colorado.  Nevertheless we made it safely to the apartment and will begin unloading when there is more sunlight.
For complete photo-age of our journey across the Midwest see Laura's photo album.

We are still in Kansas!

Packing

Here is the plan:

- Dan arrives in Peoria on June 6th so that he and Laura can visit friends and finish a little packing (really, it will be done, says Laura!)
- June 8th we pick up the truck and load all of Laura's life into that truck.  Want to help?  Come by Laura's apartment around 10:30 am that morning.  Laura's parents will be in Peoria as well.
- Early Tuesday morning Dan and Laura leave from Peoria to drive south to KC where we will visit and stay with friends from PCS.
- Late Wednesday night we roll into Colorado Springs hopefully in one piece and not completely exhausted.

Registries

Several of our friends and family have asked about our gift registries.  First, thank you for helping us provide for our new home.  If you look to the right you will see direct links to all of our wish lists.  If you think about it, and the store offers, consider shipping straight to our Colorado address.
We appreciate all of you, and consider it a blessing to have you in our lives to celebrate our marriage.

Showers of Blessings

April and May were some interesting months.  As Laura began winding down her time at Peoria Christian Middle School, she also was blessed with several showers put on my friends from Peoria.  One of the most precious showers was a simple afternoon tea hosted my a PCMS mom with Laura's fifth and sixth grade girls Thursday Bible study.  Despite the freedom to eat cake and chocolate covered strawberries, the girls were more excited about watching Miss Crawford open their well thought out gifts.  It was their first wedding shower!  They were also thrilled that it was also Laura's - what a great honor!
